PROGRAMS
6 weeks to 12 months - THE SPROUTS
Entrusting your child to the care of others is difficult at any age, but can be especially hard during infancy. We strive to make this a smooth transition for you and your child. Our trained, experienced teachers are dedicated to meeting your child's emotional and physical needs while also stimulating cognitive growth.
13 months to 24 months - THE SEEDLINGS
This is an exciting time in the life of your child. Increased gross motor control enable your toddler to feel a greater sense of independence as they move more freely around their world. Scribbling with crayons, building with blocks, and feeding themselves are just a few of the many accomplishments your child will experience during this stage of their development. The toddler curriculum provides your child with a variety of activities aimed at strengthening the skills they have while working to acquire new ones.

25 months to 36 months - THE EVERGREENS
This is a time of moving and shaking! During this stage of development the thinking child emerges. Actions become more deliberate - building a tower and then knocking it down, coloring with a purpose, or jumping over an obstacle. Your child is beginning to see the world in a new light with their increased cognitive skills. We recognize the importance of engaging enjoyable activities now more than ever. Reading aloud, play, music and movement take on a new role for the thinking child. Story time becomes interactive as your child recalls details, makes predictions and identifies characters. Play also becomes more interactive as your child learns to play with another child. And finally, songs work as a tool to help your child retain important information beyond their A,B,C's.

37 months to 4 years old - THE PALMS
Building upon the skills your child has developed over the past few years, activities become more challenging to compete with a rapidly developing young mind. This stage brings increased fine motor control which widens the selection of activities available to educate your child. Hands-on discovery is of utmost importance during this stage. Children are encouraged to paint, manipulate moon sand, or string beads with the same goal in mind B strengthening their fine motor skills.
Teachers continue reading aloud, but with a greater purpose. Letter names and sounds are introduced through literature and are reinforced in center activities around the classroom.

4 to 5 years old - THE REDWOODS
The Pre-Kindergarten program is the culmination of learning at Woodland Academy. Ensuring that your child is prepared for Kindergarten socially, emotionally, and academically is the goal of our Pre-Kindergarten Program. Through the Harcourt Reading Series, Storytown, your child will begin to explore literacy in greater depth by focusing on: oral language, letter recognition, phonemic awareness, and basic sight word recognition. The Storytown series offers a rigorous academic program that is presented in a child-friendly manner.
